Memories fade...Love lasts forever...

This is the name of my tiny quilt submission for the Alzheimer's
Art Quilt Initiative (AAQI) Priority: Alzheimer's Quilts Program.
Founded by quilt designer, Ami Simms, the AAQI is a national
grass-roots charity whose mission is to raise awareness and fund
Alzheimer's research.

In 2011, my guild, the Courthouse Quilters of Hunterdon County,
challenged its members to create these tiny quilts (no larger
than 9" x 12" to be able to fit in a Priority Mail envelope) to
submit to the organization. 22 quilts were submitted, 12 of
which have been either sold or auctioned off on-line raising
$825.

Actual size pictures of the quilts previously submitted as well
as 12 new quilts (soon to be sumitted) will be on display at
"Quilts in the Mill", the guild's biennial quilt show at the
Prallsville Mills in Stockton, NJ, October 5-7, 2012.

Please come see these precious little quilts in addition to over

Quilt Show Kaleidoscope wins 2nd place ribbon!

With just a few weeks to spare before the deadline of my local
quilt guild's (Courthouse Quilters) challenge, I managed to put
together an entry that ultimately won 2nd place! The challenge
rules stipulated that the quilt contain "10" of something-
anything to celebrate the guild's 10th show at the Prallsville
Mills coming up this October 5-7. It also needed to have bits of
red and tan to represent the mills.

My inspiration was the large round millstone I took a picture of
at our last show in 2010. Also having recently purchased
Kaleidoscope Kreator 3 software, I created round, 8-sectioned
kaleidoscopes form various images I also took at the 2010 show.

Some kaleidoscopes were much more obvious than others - but that
was the fun part - watching the guild members try to guess what
images/scenes could have possibly made the various kaleidoscopes.

I will post the original images on my website. Can you guess
which ones correspond to which kaleidoscopes?

Join us at the10th Quilts at the Mill Quilt Show in Stockton, NJ
October 5-7, 2012! There will be a special exhibit of all of the
challenge quilts as well as many more beautiful quilts to gaze
at, chances to win our member-made raffle quilt or mini quilts,
handmade items to purchase at our boutique and plenty of vendors
to shop at!

Please go towww.courthousequilters.comfor more information on the
show! See you there!

QUILTapestry technique debuts in the NQA Quilting Quarterly

Did you get your copy of the Winter 2012 NQA Quilting Quarterly?

You'll find my directions on how to finish a quilt - the
QUILTapestry way! Essentially it is a no-binding technique that
also incorporates a rod pocket - great for wall quilts! You'll
also find directions for my Ribbon Star QUILTapestry where you
can try it out!

I developed the technique when I was making my Scandinavian
series quilts. I wanted the quilts to finish with a neat edge,
but I didn't want the visual effect that a binding would add.

Pictures of all three quilts are on page 9 along with a picture
of me wearing my Estonian national costume! The technique is also
great for keeping neat the backs wall quilts with lots of
embellishment or the not so perfect bobbin stitches of a novice
machine quilter!

If you aren't a member of NQA and don't receieve the magazine,
check out my website to see the quilts and a few more! Patterns
for the Scandinavian series quilts are available through my
website or at www.QuiltWoman.com.

Happy Quilting!
